Rusty
arrived from Chicago in June of 2000.
He was four months old and an attitude of a well brought up boy. He made
alone a long journey, in its clean cage, with a packet of dry food and a
bottle of mineral water.
He did not appear to be scared or tried because of the journey or the
loneliness. We fell in love with him at once, and we were moved because
of his short little nails. The true fear was provoked by Nenci, our landlady of
our house, a Bullmastiff of three years of age that hardly decided that "that dog does not have to enter in
our home!".
At the end Rusty conquered also her with tenderness and bearing her
patiently.
When he listens speaking American by television or radio, we wonder if
Rusty has a recollection of that sonority...it is curious to think that
he knows something that we do not understand.
